A new non-ferrous metallurgy equipment plant has opened in Krasnoyarsk.

Research and Production Center of Magnetic Hydrodynamics new plant has been opened in Krasnoyarsk. The new workshops will produce import-substituting equipment and proprietary components for the non-ferrous metals industry.
The production expansion was made possible, in part, thanks to support from the State Industrial Development Fund of the Krasnoyarsk Region, which issued a preferential loan of 100 million rubles in 2022. Additional equipment was purchased, and production facilities were equipped.
The plant wants to increase production and annual sales tenfold. This includes aluminum wire production to replace copper electrical wiring in transport. It uses proprietary alloys.
"Our technology allows us to create domestically produced equivalents and completely replace the wires produced by a French company for internal wiring of onboard electrical systems in aircraft. Thanks to the new capacity, we will also be able to bring to market new high-tech products currently in the research and development stages and laboratory prototypes," said plant director Viktor Timofeev.
The plant also wants to increase production of liquid aluminum filters for industrial applications. This is a fully import-substituting product; previously, they were made only in Japan. The design is based on the work of students at Siberian Federal University, with which the plant collaborates.
"The new plant commissioning will enable the manufacture of non-ferrous metal alloys and products made from them. These materials will be in high demand both at metallurgical plants across the country and at metallurgical facilities in Belarus, Kazakhstan, and other countries," said Sergei Kozupitsa, Acting Deputy Chairman of the Krasnoyarsk Krai Government, at the plant's opening ceremony.
The opening of new facilities has increased the number of jobs by more than 66%: 50 new ones in addition to the 75 existing ones.
"The launch of the plant is a significant event for industry: the development of domestic production is a priority for the regional government and the country's leadership. The enterprise is a shining example of how to operate under sanctions. The plant now has every opportunity to increase production and annual sales severalfold," said Alexander Ananyev, Acting Minister of Industry, Energy, and Housing and Public Utilities of the region.
For reference
Since its establishment on April 8, 2022, the regional industrial development fund has approved 20 projects totaling 1,062 million rubles. Almost half of these projects are aimed at addressing import substitution issues. These include, in addition to the Research and Production Center of Magnetic Hydrodynamics, Eonessi, OKB ROST, Formula-K, Termoprofi, AVAKS-GeoService, ITS-Sibir, SISTEMA, and BytKhim.
