Melting and holding furnaces
The first electric tiltling holding furnace in Russia was developed by the Scientific and Production Center of Magnetic Hydrodynamics in 2003. Its successful commissioning confirmed and cemented the company's leadership in the field. We have become a reliable partner in the domestic smelting and casting industry modernization.

At the initiative of United Company RUSAL, the Scientific and Production Center of Magnetic Hydrodynamics and the British company Mechatherm signed a license agreement for the tilting holding and melting furnaces joint supply. Engineering expertise, global experience, and manufacturing capabilities have enabled to successfully complete major projects for metallurgical companies in Russia and the CIS.
Today, the Scientific and Production Center of Magnetic Hydrodynamics develops, designs, manufactures, supplies, and commissions large-capacity holding and melting furnaces with electric and gas heating for various customer production tasks.
Equipment, modernization and maintenance
- Each facility is unique in its location, equipment, communications, and other production constraints, which is why our specialists perform design and engineering work tailored to the customer's conditions and requirements.
- Increasing the furnaces energy efficiency and productivity is possible through the use MHD stirrers, the installation of which can be either provided during manufacture or through the metal structure and existing furnaces refractory modernization.
- Electric holding furnaces are equipped with an electric heating system, which determines the furnace's reliability, efficiency, and service life. We manufacture original spare parts and furnace components (tubular electric heaters and thyristor power controllers) , the specific features of which are taken into account during the furnace design.
- Our specialists provide refractory lining services, major repairs, furnaces maintenance and associated equipment.
